  • Do you offer floating docks?

Yes, we offer floating docks. Floating docks can be built in many shapes, sizes, and styles. At Honc Docks & Lifts, we commonly use foam-filled plastic floats for support and a wooden frame matching the standard fixed dock. The frame is then decked with marine-grade wood or plastic decking to match the fixed dock.

Additional options include aluminum-framed floating docks or concrete floating docks. Aluminum or wood-framed ramps allow the homeowner access to the floating dock from the uplands. For stability, we prefer our docks to be built 8' or 10' wide. Floating docks can make loading or unloading a boat with people or supplies easier than with fixed docks.

Additionally, kayakers enjoy the low free-board for entry and exit. Schedule an appointment with a boat dock contractor for your FREE on-site estimate on a brand-new custom dock built by Honc Docks & Lifts.

  • What is a boat lift platform?

An ever-growing portion of our business is lift platforms. These platforms are great for launching and servicing smaller vessels such as kayaks, jet skis, and flatboats.

Custom platforms, like offshore center consoles, can be designed and built for larger vessels. Each platform has an aluminum frame attached to the boatlift cradle. Plastic decking panels with a “grated” design are attached to the top of the aluminum frame. The boat lift controls lift the platform in and out of the water.

Contact our team today for more information on boat lift installation and platforms.

  • How do I decide what type of boat lift I need?

Here's how to find what lift is right for you:

Step 1: What capacity lift do I need? The first calculation is the total weight your boat lift needs to lift.

Step 2: Determine cradle width. How wide is the boat beam? Add 2’ 6” to the boat beam for cradle width. If the lift is placed on existing pilings that do not have 2’ 6” clearance, we can discuss custom options.

Step 3: Does my boat’s hull design need a custom bunk support? Catamarans with step-hulls, inboards, and keeleds need flat-bottom custom bunks, while traditional "V" hulls do not.

Step 4: Do I have any water depth issues? To accommodate the boat lift cradle, you must add around one foot of depth to your boat's draft. Most canal systems experience two feet of tide change. If you can determine water depth issues, we must discuss a shallow water cradle system.

Step 5: Consider future boats. Are there any larger boats or boats with different hull designs that we should design this current lift to accommodate?

Step 6: Please fill out our online form to request a callback, and we will contact you to discuss the specifics of your project. All information is strictly confidential. As a top dock builder and boat lift provider, we are proud to offer free estimates!
